Discovery of a novel compound regulating wakefulness
Hiroshi Nagase (core PI of IIIS) and his research group, in collaboration with Masashi Yanagisawa, successfully discovered the potent orexin agonist which shows nearly equivalent effect with endogenous orexin and effective in improving narcoleptic symptoms in mice. Their achievement is an important first step to develop an entirely novel drug for the remedy of narcolepsy. This landmark paper was published in the October issue of Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
